Accepting What I Cannot Change: How I Learned to Find Strength in My Response to Frustration

It can be difficult when we come face-to-face with the reality that we cannot change someone else’s behavior or attitude, especially if they are unapologetic about it. It could be tempting to give into feelings of anger, resentment and sadness – but this won’t get us anywhere. Instead, I learned that our own inner peace and sense of control over our lives does not depend on anyone else’s opinion or attitude towards us.

Whenever I was feeling overwhelmed by such situations, I had to remind myself that self-care is essential for managing my emotions more effectively; whether it’s through meditation or any other type of similar practices, journaling my thoughts down, or simply indulging in a hobby you enjoy — find something calming which helps restore balance back into your life. Taking some time away from any situation where it feels like you’re constantly being drained by other people’s negative energy can help too.

In accepting what I cannot change, I also discovered the importance of realizing that change takes time – both for yourself as well as others around you too. To accept where you are today without judging yourself harshly means having faith in future possibilities; likewise, for those who don’t want immediate attitudes shifts – compassionately respecting their journey as well as yours is key here. And neither should be done at the cost of sacrificing one another along the way.

Ultimately if nothing works, then there comes a point where acceptance needs to take precedence over trying endlessly changing what might have been determined already beyond our reach; letting go allows us space to move forward and let go off whatever hurts us while accepting realities just they way they are at present moment! Our happiness depends not on others’ opinions, nor what lies outside of me, I am happy because I matter. Be Happy because you matter…
